TWO AWFUL THERAPY EXPERIENCES…

Many years ago my daughter died just before her first birthday; at that point, I tried to reach out to the available therapy ‘specialists’ and had two awful experiences that left me feeling worse about myself.

Child Death Helpline at Great Ormond Street Hospital…

After several years which involved a stay in hospital I had worked out a way to start living my life again and as part of that, I wanted to help other parents who were in the same awful position that I had been in previously.

I had heard about the Child Death Helpline at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and started working with them to support other bereaved parents through their journey of loss.

After working there for several years I had reached the point where I knew that for my own mental health and for the sake of the parents I was talking to I needed a change of direction.

THE CORPORATE WORLD

I moved on and spent the next 10 years working in the corporate world which left me feeling unfulfilled in my work.  During that time I met a Quest therapist and he told me about the work that he did and something sparked inside of me and I looked into training with the Quest Institute, unfortunately, the timing was not right for me at that point.

2020… THE YEAR OF COVID!

Fast forward to 2020 and the world changed when Covid struck!  I myself became seriously ill with Covid and was unable to carry on with my job due to extreme tiredness as a result of Long Covid.  When I was finally made redundant, it gave me the chance to re-evaluate my life.  Having just had one of those milestone birthdays I felt  “If I don’t grab this opportunity now, I will never do it…”

BEING TAUGHT TO WORK WITH THE CLIENT AND NOT THE LABEL!

So,  I took the plunge and started the course in July 2021 and have never looked back! From the first time I picked up the course material, I felt that I had come home and this was where I needed to be.  Each new technique was exciting and I loved the fact that I was being taught to work with the client and not the label.  Such a difference from the awful experiences of therapy I had received all those years ago.

Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy has changed my life and I hope that by working with the techniques I have learned I will be able to change the lives of my clients for the better too.
